At University Prep Academy, we do things just a bit differently. Instead of traditional classes, University Prep Academy has advisories that engage students and help them build awareness of themselves as independent and self-directed learners.
An Advisory is comprised of 16-18 students and one advisor (teacher). Students stay within their advisory throughout much of the day. Advisories also stay together for multiple years. Students stay in the same group throughout middle school (6th-8th grades). Students will become a part of a new advisory when they enter high school.
University Prep Academy uses this advisory model because we feel it builds powerful relationships between the students and their advisor. This model is designed to promote a sense of safety, nurturing and support through the development of long-term relationships.
